LETTER FROM THE CEO: SharePoint

SharePoint is one of the fastest growing products in Microsoft’s history. If your company hasn’t deployed it yet, chances are you are thinking about it.

When it comes to deploying SharePoint as part of an ECM strategy, be sure not to overlook fax. Many of our customers have been using Open Text Fax Server, RightFax Edition, for more than a decade, and rely on the information contained in those documents for some of their most mission critical business processes.

That’s where we can help. With more than 15 years experience in enterprise fax management, we understand the complete end-to-end lifecycle of these documents—how they are received, how the information is captured and processed, and how documents should be archived for simplified retrieval.

Today, we are working on solutions that will extend the life and value of your Fax Server investment, and leverage the new investments you are making in SharePoint. By combining our expertise in intelligent document processing with leading edge technology in data capture, workflow, and archiving solutions, Instant InfoSystems is uniquely able to extend your SharePoint investment and deliver true document intelligence to your organization.

The result is increased productivity, increased accuracy, and improved efficiencies companywide.

In the coming months, you’ll hear much more about document intelligence, and the specialized offerings from IIS designed to improve how your company processes its documents. In the meantime, if you’d like a sneak peak, just send me an email. I look forward to hearing from you.

David Klein

CEO, Instant InfoSystems

DID YOU KNOW? VoIP is not a requirement for FoIP

Virtualization of Fax

As more organizations migrate to and IP-based, virtualized environment to reduce costs, centralize networks and consolidate servers, one key application that should not be overlooked is fax. However, one of the most common misconceptions about Fax over IP (FoIP) is that it requires Voice over IP (VoIP). It does not! Regardless of your company’s VoIP strategy, you can easily migrate your fax servers to FoIP and reap the benefits of reduced hardware maintenance and transmission costs. Instant InfoSystems (IIS) is on the forefront of this technology offering organizations information, insight, and technical guidance on the benefits and implementation of fax virtualization and FoIP. If your organization is looking at virtualizing specific business applications in 2010, IIS has multiple resources to assist you with the process. Below you will find the recently released podcast and a link to the new IIS Virtualization and FoIP Learning Center.

Podcast: Benefits of Virtualizing Fax

IIS partnered with one of the utmost experts on virtualization and FoIP, David Chernicoff, a Windows IT Pro fax consultant, to discuss the cost-effective benefits of FoIP. The podcast examines why an organization that deployed a Voice over IP system can easily upgrade and support fax virtualization and FoIP, and why VoIP is not a requirement for FoIP. Listeners will learn specific benefits organizations receive when virtualizing their network fax server and the interoperability available when upgrading.

Virtualization and FoIP Learning Center:

IIS created a one-stop learning center where you will find a wealth of information including relevant podcasts, webinars, and white papers to help you better understand the many benefits of virtualizing your fax environment. The learning center is for organizations interested in learning more about the process of virtualizing their fax environment and the steps it will take to go from manual fax machines or a TDM fax server to a virtualized Open Text Fax Server.

Juan’s Tech Tip

RightFax 9.4 has introduced a limitation/loss of functionality for organizations that utilize WebUtil with access to delegate mailboxes. If you currently use WebUtil, and require the access to delegate mailboxes, Instant InfoSystems recommends that you do not upgrade to RightFax 9.4 at this time. IIS is currently working with Open Text on a resolution to this issue, and is advising customers dependent on this feature to delay the upgrade until testing is concluded and the issue is resolved.

A new feature pack released by Open Text is the Microsoft Exchange 2010 bundle. The Open Text Fax Server Version 9.4 Feature Pack 1 enables end users enhanced fax capabilities using Microsoft Exchange 2010. If you are interested in learning more about the feature pack and integrating Exchange 2010 with your Open Text Fax Server, RightFax Edition, please contact IIS at info@instantinfo.com or (310) 750-7200.

Are You Thinking of Upgrading Your Open Text Fax Server?

If your organization is looking to upgrade Open Text Fax Server, RightFax Edition, contact IIS to begin the upgrade process. Open Text requires organizations’ access codes to begin the process of upgrading your Open Text Fax Server, RightFax Edition. The access codes can take up to a month to receive, so if you are thinking about virtualizing your current environment or upgrading an end of life version, contact IIS at info@instantinfo.com or (310) 750-7200.
