Rightfax Tech Alert: Applying Security Update for Windows (KB961501) Disables HPFax Printing in Open Text Fax Server, Rightfax Edition 7.X or Later
June 1st, 2009On June 8, 2009, Microsoft issued a security bulletin MS09-022 to address vulnerabilities in Windows Print Spooler that could allow remote code execution. Security Update for Windows (KB961501) is being distributed via Automatic Update/Windows Update to address this issue. After installing the update, HPFAX printing is disabled in Open Text Fax Server, RightFax Edition 7.x or later.
Systems Affected: Only Open Text Fax Server, RightFax Edition 8.5, 8.7, 9.0, 9.3 and 9.4 installations with Security Update for Windows (KB961501) applied are affected.
Impact: When you attempt to print a document to the HPFAX Queue in Open Text Fax Server, RightFax Edition 7.x or later, the document is not printed. The message below appears in the Windows Event Viewer, Application log.
